- Short Description: This week on Kiwi Cook were serving up a viewer request! Coming from "JackDouglasDean" who has requested that we cook French Toast Kiwi Cook style. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/venaccio?sk=wall Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/venaccio MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/venaccio Camera, editor: Ashley Pitman Cook: Sterling Arnet Ingredients: French Toast: 1 loaf Ciabatta bread 3 eggs 250ml cream (or substitute with milk if desired) 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp turmeric ½ vanilla pod (substitute with 1tsp vanilla essence if desired) 100g sugar Streaky bacon 2 bananas 2 TBSP golden syrup Berry Coulis: 2 cups boysenberries Juice of half lemon (optional) 100g sugar Put boysenberries, lemon, and 100g sugar in a pot and simmer for 5 -- 10 minutes until thickened. Mix eggs, cream, cinnamon, turmeric, 100g sugar, and vanilla pods in a bowl. Slice ciabatta loaf into 1cm thick slices. Place sliced bread in a deep dish and soak with the egg mixture, flipping the bread over so that both sides are coated with the mixture. Cut bananas into quarters leaving the skin on. Rub sugar into the banana as desired. Heat up two pans with butter or canola oil. Lift soaked bread slices from the dish and shake off excess mixture, then place in a hot pan. Cook until golden on both sides. Place banana and bacon into the other hot pan, add golden syrup and cook until caramelised. Blend the boysenberry mixture if desired. Serve French toast with caramelised bacon and banana and coulis on the side. Enjoy!
